Center Park was originally the southern part of the Washington Park subdivision developed in 1904. The land of Washington Park includes Center Park and Conley Hills and was from the Eliza Conley Estate.
Center Park was named for Edgar S. Center, the head of the Commercial Development Department of the Atlanta and West Point Railroad.
Today, the Center Park boundaries constitute the businesses and residences within a north-south distance between Washington Road and Vesta Avenue, and east-west between Main Street and the Marion Park neighborhood.
